As a web designer for AWeber, an online email marketing service for small business owners, I was responsible for developing page designs, maintaining the code base and optimizing the marketing site for sign-up conversions. Though the brand had a strong customer base, the market was more saturated than ever with similar competitors and as a result, acquisition rates were slow.
The solution? Optimizing key funnel pages by conducting VWO split tests. Using a home-run approach, I designed a homepage that yielded a 32% increase in sign up conversions—results three times higher than the standard split test improvements. The project overall taught me valuable insights about hierarchy and user behaviors as well as how iterative design and testing can yield powerful results.
